JUNIORS PERFORMANCE CAMPS
Skyline Performance Camp
Advanced/Expert | RACE SIMULATION | $299
Sometimes practice doesn’t successfully transfer into a performance environment. So, we’ve built this camp to simulate a competitive race weekend environment for realistic practice. Our goal with this camp is to completely separate from outcomes and the pressure of results.
The focus is on learning new processes in how to approach races with calm confidence. We’ll cover riding, mental, physical and equipment skills. Riders will gain knowledge and maturity in understanding how to find their best performance - rather than just rolling the dice.
This is aimed at experienced riders already comfy on single black (grade 5) and double black (grade 6) trails but want to refine their race processes.
2 days of riding from 10am to 4pm.
Day 1 - track walk (TBC), practice, seeding.
Day 2 - Practice, final runs.
Strictly limited to 4 riders.
For juniors motivated to learn from experienced coaches qualified to the highest international standards.
-
Focused and motivated 12-14 year olds who are keen to learn more about unlocking performance.
Riders must be comfy on challenging (up to double black/grade 6) trails at skyline.
Come with an open mind and be ready to learn!
-
We’ll cover all aspects of a race weekend, from track walk to final runs.
This is about self-development and growth, and how to respond to the stresses of a race weekend using a process-driven strategy.
Being confident in your own processes can prevent falling into self doubt, nervousness and comparison.
-
2 days of coaching at Ben Lomond Trails (Skyline).
Days begin at 9.50am.
Lunch for 45 mins at 12pm.
Days finish at 4pm.
If we can, we’ll run rain or shine. If the activity becomes destructive to trails or the risk profile rises excessively, we’ll make adjustments.
-
Due to the nature of a performance camp, it is expected that riders arrive with appropriate gear - no exceptions will be made, if unsure, please reach out.
A modern, well maintained mountain bike. Downhill bikes are preferred.
A valid lift pass for Skyline (not included in our pricing).
A full face helmet (mandatory, non-negotiable).
Kneepads (mandatory, non-negotiable).
Gloves, goggles/eye protection, elbow pads, chest/spine protection, shin pads, neck brace are all recommended, but not mandatory.
-
$299 (lift pass not included)
Limited spots available.
Subject to minimum numbers.
-
If in doubt, don’t hesitate to get in touch and ask questions - we are happy to help!
Riders should be entirely comfortable and controlled riding single black trails with good technique and confidence (e.g Armageddon, El Gato, Bubba, KY)
Riders should have spent decent mileage on double black trails too, but with less refined riding (e.g Grundy, Fundy, Ants, Hobbit).
-
We’ll make a call on this closer to the time. It will be a legal trail in the bike park and we will use it respectfully.
The track isn’t the core focus - how we approach it is.
We’ll aim for something in the 1 min to 1.30min region.
